Publisher’s Blurb:

In Highlander Most Wanted, a reclusive woman content to live in the shadows shows a Highland warrior the true meaning of love.

Genevieve McInnes is locked behind the fortified walls of McHugh Keep, captive of a cruel laird who takes great pleasure in ruining her for any other man. Yet when Bowen Montgomery storms the gates on a mission of clan warfare, Genevieve finds that her spirit is bent but not broken. Still, her path toward freedom remains uncertain. Unable to bear the shame of returning to a family that believes her dead or to abandon others at the keep to an imposing new laird, Genevieve opts for the peaceful life of an abbess. But Bowen’s rugged sensuality stirs something deep inside her that longs to be awakened by his patient, gentle caress—something warm, wicked, and tempting.

Bowen seizes his enemy’s keep, unprepared for the brooding and reclusive woman who captures his heart. He’s enchanted by her fierce determination, her unusual beauty, and her quiet, unfailing strength. But wooing her will take more than a seasoned seducer’s skill. For loving Genevieve, he discovers, means giving her back the freedom that was stolen from her—even if it means losing her forever.

Genevieve McInnes was on her way to get married when her travelling party was attacked by Ian McHugh. Eveyone was killed except for Genevieve. The next year, she was help prisoner by Ian McHugh and made to suffer the worst treatment. She’s kept locked up, forced to suffer humiliation and tortured. A little bit of her died each day.

She’s finally rescued by the Montgomery and Armstrong Clans when they attach the McHugh keep for past transgressions. When the Montgomerys and Armstrongs arrive they find a keep in need of a laird for the laird ran away.

Bowen Montgomery came to the McHugh keep to take control for the Montgomery clan. What he finds is Genevieve. He’s angry with her as he feels she’s betrayed his clan, yet he’s drawn to her at the same time.

Genevieve has learned to trust no man. Yet, for some reason she’s drawn to Bowen. She trusts him and she feels safe with him. In his arms she learns how things should be between a man and a woman.

Genevieve’s story is heart breaking and bittersweet story. She’s suffered so much and come out the other side stronger. Most women would not be able to endure what she’s endured.  And through it all, she kept a sliver of hope. Hope of freedom. Hope for something more than the torture and torment she’s suffered.

I found my self crying at all that Genevieve suffered. I also found myself smiling as she found a man, a real man, in Bowen. He’s warrior who has a way with words.

This is an amazing love story and one that should not be missed.

I am a happily married mother of three very busy children.  Most of my time is spent chauffeuring my kids to their various activities. I cram reading into any spare moment I have. Some days I can have an hour or two and others I’m sneaking in quick reads while waiting on the kids to finish their soccer or gymnastics practice. I like to read a wide variety of genres but I definitely prefer romance. I can’t really pinpoint a favorite author as it changes on a regular basis. I absolutely love finding new authors and giving their stories a chance to be heard. We all have a voice in our heads writing stories and those voices should be given a chance to be heard.

  1. I loved this book too Lee Anne! My heart leapt from my chest a few times. I felt so sorry for Genevieve. There were several times where I cried. I liked Bowen, even though he may have jumped the gun once or twice, he was a decent man and a strong character. I wanted to kill Ian with my bare hands. I know it was ‘just’ a book, but, wow! Maya pulled me in and didn’t let go until the very last page.

While her first three Scottish historical books were more lighthearted- the fourth was my most favorite- this one, Highlander Most Wanted was a bit darker but with such a happy ending! ;o)

Keep up the great review Lee Anne!

  2. This one was definitely dark. But it was so good. I too felt for her. How she was able to stay so strong, I have no idea!
