The research project was only for an “extended period.” No one said anything about forever! Deceived and betrayed, Riley is sent back 40,000 years to be the mate of a man she’d never before met. Her journey will take her into a world fraught with dangers—a world made more treacherous by savage beasts, primitive Neanderthals, and the incursion of the aggressive Cro-Magnon man. Surviving alone for five years in this vast wilderness, Nathan, along with his enormous dog, Demon, carve out a life in the perilous environment. Though thrown together by forces beyond their control, Riley and Nathan nevertheless find love—but can these two lost souls survive against such overwhelming odds?

I wanted to read Into the Savage Dawn, but I was advised to read this book first and boy, am I glad I did, as Into the Savage Dawn is actually the sequel to Riley’s Journey.
When Riley signs on to help with a research project, she has no idea she’ll be transported back in time to the time of the Neanderthals! She meets and falls in love with Nathan, a handsome man who’s also been transported back through an experiment gone wrong. Together they must fight savage bands of Cro-Magnon men, dangerous beasts, and freezing temperatures. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quality time travel romance that is definitely out of the ordinary. Into the Savage Dawn is next on my list. I’ve also read Fiona by this author (a time travel romance set in Ancient China). P.L. Parker never fails to entertain me. I love her work.

About the Reviewer:
I’m a multi-published author of sizzling-hot African-American romance. I’m also a Walking Dead fan and a recovering shoe addict. I never met a stiletto I didn’t like! I’ve always been an avid reader of all romance genres. A few years ago, I decided to share my knowledge of Egypt and Nubia by publishing my first African-American historical romance, entitled Pharaoh’s Desire. Then, in November of 2010, I published my first urban romance, The Highest Bidder. Whether I’m writing historical or contemporary romances, I always try to educate my readers and teach them something they may not have known before. When I’m not writing, I enjoy doing anything artsy, collecting Native American pottery, and indulging in my one true obsession – shoe shopping! I live in Dallas, TX with my husband, photographer Kerry Rand.
