Medicine or marriage? For Mary, the choice was clear. Far away from the patriarchal medical community, she resolves to be of real service. REVIEW BY EMERY

Missionary William Mayweather is in need of a physician at his remote Africal outpost, but what he adamantly doesn’t need, after having buried his beloved wife in the jungle,  is a woman! When Dr. Mary O’Hara shows up, his only thought is to send her back from whence she came, but what he doesn’t realize is that for Mary, there is no returning to her former life. This story is filled with a conflict of wills as both William and Mary struggle against each other to do the work they believe God has called them to do. While William feels that Mary will impede his mission, his over-protectiveness certainly prevents her from accomplishing hers… thus rages the battle of wills.

This book is a romance between missionaries and clearly inspirational with the faith of the hero and heroine  playing a large part in the narrative.   While there is much prayer and discussion of the Christian faith, as circumstances challenge the hero and heroine’s respective beliefs, it is also well -placed within the context of the story.

The author’s research into both the era (post WWI)and the place (Liberia) appears impeccable and parts of the story had me almost holding my breath. (How many of us deal with cannibals in our work, after all?)  I think this an excellent read for those seeking an inspirational love story with a well depicted historial setting.

At present, the Kindle version of this book is available for $3.82
